Mystery 900 Silver Tray with Crests Dutch?

Postby CuriousJoeC » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:17 pm

Hi...can anyone tell me who made this and when it was made? The tray itself is hand chased and the lions and crests around the edge were cast. It's 14" in diameter.

Hello,
I just bought a very similar tray, probably with the identical lions and crests. Friends tell me that the crests are Spanish, and that the tray is probably Spanish colonial from South America. My tray is marked with a similar shaped sheild, no crown, and mine reads "P T, a horse shoe shaped mark and 905". If any one has any futher information, would greatly appreciate it, am going to try to post a photo of the tray with a drawing of the mark.
