XXXX Spoon

Postby ddg47 » Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:04 am

Good Morning --

I wondered what was this spoon designed to do with its unique shape. I am also baffled by the mark: LTENHAM-XXXX SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. Appreciate your help very much. Best, Diane

Hello.

I think we are missing some letters before LTENHAM.
Suspect it originally was Cheltenham for Cheltenham & Company of Sheffield England.
Around 1950 they became a division of the American firm National Silver Company located in New York City.

Don't know what the X's represent.

Pat.

I'd guess XXXX means quadruple plated.
