Above is a 15.25 inch long meat skewer with a makers mark I cannot find.
The makers mark appears to be RU but I am quite sure the R is overstruck.
The only maker I could source of this period is Duncan Urquhart - perplexing.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers!

Hi,

That would be Robert Urquhart (Grimwade 2451) entered as a smallworker on the 10th February 1801. Address: Little Britain. He moved to 179 Strand on the 10th August 1805.

Your skewer therefore can be dated to be assayed between February and May 1801, and would be one of the earliest pieces by this silversmith.

Trev.
