Is this mexican? If so what do the marks mean

Postby rob h » Sun Nov 23, 2008 7:31 pm

this looks mexican. But it it marked TA900. Under the post 1978 making system this would mean made in taxco, by someone who was the 900th registered silversmith with a last name starting with A. its posiible but is it more likely that 900 refers to the sliver content ?
Please help !

Thanks

Hi Rob,

What I know about Mexican silver, you could write on the back of a postage stamp, but to me the mark looks very much like those that are applied by silversmiths in India.

Regards Trev.
