Postby music-surf » Sat Nov 22, 2008 5:22 pm

I think the mark might be Gorhams but I can't find anything to back that up. Can anyone help?

It's a Gorham silverplate mark.

I don't know, it seems like Gorham marks their silverplate pretty obviously. Besides that the bell was tested pretty thoroughly.

Hello.

I enhanced the picture of your mark.
Looks like G MFG Co to me, which would be a Gorham silverplate mark.

Chemical testing on silver is seldom reliable.
Many times on silverplate only the surface is tested and that usually reads as sterling or higher in fineness.
