Maker's mark (?) on a Franz Mosgau Berlin Wine Cup

Postby ssebregts » Tue Oct 04, 2005 7:08 am

ImageImage

I have this wine-cup by Franz Mosgau, Berlin. Right below the upper edge it is signed with the mark my son copied in pencil.
Does anybody know what it is, is it a maker's mark?
Does anybody recognise it?
If you have any suggestions, I would be grateful if you would share your knowledge witm me.

Thanks a lot.

Image Hi Sylvia,
Your piece did some traveling. This mark was used in Austria, between 1901 & 1922, to indicate that a piece was imported from a foreign country.

Thank you very much!
I really didn't expect a reply so soon. Splendid!
I am very happy with this reply.
I understand it is not a maker's mark, but just the import mark of Austria, right?
Thanks again.
