identify hallmark pattern on charm

Post by gabriela »

hi,

can someone help me to identify this hallmark? I have some different charms with this icon, all marked "sterling" or "strlg" and with copyright sign (c). the mark looks a little bit like a maltese cross, or like a cross with three scratched lines on each side and a square in the middle.

thank you!

Hi Gabriela-

I can not see the picture very well, but it is not a Maltese cross. It looks as though it might be a Zia, one of the American Indian symbols for the sun. Look up a picture of the New Mexico flag and see what you think. Can you post a picture of the charm so we can see what it looks like?

Regards- Byron

hi byron and thank you for your quick answer! yes, it doesen't look like a maltese cross, but something like a cross anyway.

I have some more charms from this maker. I'll post 3 of them and hope it could help. sorry for the quality of the pictures, but the charms are very small.

I have seen that same mark on charms that came from a supplier called Rio Grande in Albequerque, New Mexico. I am unsure if they make them in house or have them from another supplier. If I have a chance to dig out their catalogue I will see if it contains any additional information.
