Locket makers mark and year

Hi all,

This is my first post so I hope I get it right.

Have a silver locket and would like some assistance in identifying the makers mark and year.





I know it's Birmingham and think that it might be John Sherwood and Sons (?) even though it is only 'JS' and I think that the last mark is an 'I' for 1958 (?).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I cannot help with the maker but the date mark is for 1983.

Hello.

I believe that mark was used by Joseph Smith & Sons Ltd., Birmingham, England.
They manufactured jewelry items.
