800 SILVER ORNATE CAKE SERVER CHALLENGING MARK

Postby winngo » Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:09 pm

Boy, this one is stumping me guys. It's not that I didn't try, it's just that I can barely make out the mark. What I see is a buffalo and an antelope. The 800 is easy. I'm guessing German made mid to late 1800's? Give me your opinion if you have any input at all. Thanks.

Hi,
It is pretty worn, but if you take the bottom half of the left side of the mark and flip it like a book page, do the same to the right hand side of the right side, you get the German "halbmond & krone", sorry it isn't a maker's mark. Probably 20th cent.

Regards, Tom
