Imported silver crucifix - where was it made?

Postby stefcampion » Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:09 pm

Hello,

I have inherited a beautiful silver crucifix, which your catalogue of hallmarks has enabled me to identify was imported by a Sheffield firm in 1895.

On the back is a second hallmark, presumably by the manufacturer. Can anybody tell me in what country it was made?

Exceptionally, I'm including three photos, as there are two hallmarks.

Thankyou.

The SBL mark was used by British importer Samuel Boyce Landeck.

Don't recognize the other set of marks.
Enhanced your picture so maybe another member can help.

Might be Gebruder Neumann, but cant really tell from your image. Could you please post a larger image of the marks.

Thanks, Tom
