Unidentified maker's mark - soup tureen - added decoration?

Postby wilobert » Fri Dec 28, 2007 5:20 pm

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can identify the maker of this piece. Also, I sent some pictures of this piece to a silver dealer who said he believed the decoration was added at a later date. Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Thank you for any information you can share.

Hi,

I just realized that I neglected to add that the additional marks indicate this tureen was made in London in 1801.

Thanks.

Jackson's has a similar mark listed as J. Wakelin & Robert Garrard (entered 1792).
