Unkown Marks, Unknown Country

Postby richsteckler » Tue Dec 04, 2007 3:53 am

Hi everyone

I hope someone can help with this mark. The silver tray is 4 x 6 inches. The first mark looks like 56 in the diamond. The second mark has an "A" at the bottom center. Thanks for any help you can give.

Rich

Picture nr 2 is Hamburg city mark before 1886.
The rest I cannot help with.

Hello and congrats, attractive and rare piece. Maker is C.H.F. Peters, who hides behind the 56 in the lozenge. He used this mark between 1835 and 1844. The tower with the A is the Hamburg city mark as used between 1829 and 1857 by warden J.N.W. Schäffer. As to the M & Co. mark - that is the unidentified retailer (not necessarily from Hamburg). Best wishes, Bahner

Wow!

Thanks for all the great information, Bahner. Do you happen to know what the silver content is?

Best Regards,
Rich
