Maker and age of a cup

Postby dinio » Sun Nov 25, 2007 6:08 pm

Hello,
This is a 21 cm high cup which looks rather old. It weighs 222 grams and has only three hallmarks on the foot : '13' for 13 löth, capital N for I think Nuremberg, and a fleur-de-lys stamp for the maker.
Can somebody identify the maker and its age?

Here is the cup:

And here are the hallmarks:

Thanks,
Dinio

The marks are pseudo-marks used by the Hanau, Germany firm of Ludwig Neresheimer & Co., which was founded in 1890. I think your cup probably dates from the first quarter of the 20th century.

Ref: W. Scheffler, Goldschmiede Hessens, marks 494, 505 & 518.
