LISTER & WRIGHT

Caroline Street, Birmingham

The police are endeavoring to trace a man who engaged a taxi to carry away a box containing nearly $15,000 worth of gem-set rings from a barrow in the shopping center of Southsea this week. The jewelry was the property of Lister & Wright, manufacturing jewelers of Caroline Street, Birmingham. E. F. Wright, a traveler for the firm, told the police he left two boxes with a barrowman to be delivered. One of the boxes contained an attache case holding the rings. The man left his truck a few minutes while he got some lunch. When he returned truck and boxes had disappeared. The truck, with one of the empty boxes, was later found on a side street.

MARK EAVES

Birmingham

Considerable sympathy was expressed by the creditors towards Mr. Mark Eaves, an old gentleman of 73 years of age, who, for nearly half a century, had been in trade as an electro-plate worker. The war was responsible for his failure, his only customer, a French house, being unable to accept delivery of orders in hand.

HARRIS MORRIS

Monument Road, Birmingham

A first dividend has been declared by Mr. Hackett, the trustee in the matter of Harris Morris, of Monument Road, wholesale jeweller. This failure, it will be remembered, was brought about by non-receipt of remittances from Mr. Morris, jun., who conducts a business in South Africa, and at the meeting of creditors considerable sympathy was given to Mr. Morris. As the matter has only been in hand so short a time, Mr. Hackett must be congratulated on his conduct of the affairs.
