Smith-Patterson Co. recently displayed one of the most complete collections of minerals and gem stones in its Washington & Avon St. windows, which attracted wide interest. Included in the display were gemological certificates of Philip E. Stetson, Ella J. Bird, and Frank Libbey.

Frank Libbey, manager of Smith-Patterson Co., Boston, returned to his office on May 29 after an absence of several weeks due to illness. Mrs. Marion Cooney of Smith-Patterson Co., took a vacation recently in order to spend the time with her husband who was home on a furlough. He has been in service with the Navy in the South Pacific.

Joseph Fahey, formerly store manager of the Smith-Patterson Co., Inc., has accepted a position as Credit Manager with the C. F. Hovey Co., department store. He was tendered a testimonial dinner at the Parker House on the occasion of his leaving the jewelry store, at which time he was presented with a 14-k. gold pen and pencil set by his former colleagues. His position as store manager has been filled by B. S. White.

John Hass, 56, silver department manager, Thomas Long Co., and formerly employed at Smith, Patterson Co., both of Boston, Mass., died suddenly at his home in Dedham, Mass., on December 7. Surviving are his wife and daughter.

Frank Libbey, manager of Smith-Patterson Co., Boston, has been ill and in the hospital, but is improving and his store associates look forward to his return. Another employee absent from her accustomed place is Rachel Clark, of the the stationery department. Miss Clark is also on the mend.

At the Smith-Patterson new store, the “New Look” for men is being emphasized this season in extra displays of cuff links, tie clasps, key chains, watches, and other items for the male of the family. With its three entrances, the new store is attracting much more traffic than formerly.
