Community's 1947: Ad Campaign Biggest in Company's History
A new high in its consumer advertising campaign will be reached by Oneida Community plate in 1947, the company announces. Ten of the largest circulation popular magazines will be included, with dominant full-page space in full-color every month throughout the year. Theme of the campaign will be a new variant of the “For Keeps” idea, which has featured Community advertising during the past two years. In 1947 it will be “Let’s Make It For Keeps,” the art work tying in with the message in the form of a handsome young couple pictured in romantic surroundings.
The retail jeweler, as the consumer’s source for Community, is stressed in each advertisement; and display material, newspaper mats and mailing pieces will be supplied to Community retailers as a further tie-in with the national campaign.

Oneida Markets Stainless With Traditional Design
ONEIDA, LTD., SILVERSMITHS, Oneida, N. Y., is starting nationwide marketing of a line of stainless steel flatware in a traditional pattern with “Shadow-Relief” finish at the middle-price retail range.
Called “Chateau,” the new pattern has been more thoroughly test marketed than any other Oneida stainless, according to Robert W. Landon, director of sales for Oneida’s stainless division.
He reports that Chateau has the traditional elegance that women have always loved in fine silver, and that the Shadow-Relief finish flatters the deep sculptured design. “It is the first medium priced stainless expressly designed to take advantage of today’s tremendous popularity of traditional home furnishings,” he said.
“To produce Chateau, we had to develop a completely new finishing process. We went to this added expense with no increase in retail price because we believe Chateau is an important first in the stainless market,” Mr. Landon added.
Promotional theme for the new line is: “Look again! It’s Stainless!” These words will be seen by the public over and over again in national advertisements, mailing pieces, circulars, window banners and displays to introduce Oneida’s exciting new concept in stainless design.

Oneida Distributes Christmas Bonus
Employes of Oneida Limited received a heartily welcomed announcement over the loud speaker system in the company’s plants and offices at Oneida, N. Y., on Wednesday, November 26.
A Christmas bonus based upon the company’s profits in 1947 is to be paid to everyone who has been in the company's employ for six months or more on November 30, 1947. It was explained by M. E. Robertson, General Manager. Weekly, hourly and piece workers who have been with the company for six months or more but less than one year, will receive payments amounting to 20 hours of their base pay, while those who have completed one year or more of continuous service on November 30th will receive a bonus payment amounting to 40 hours.
Salaried workers who have been with the company for one year or more will be given two per cent of their current annual rate and those with six months or more but less than one year will receive one per cent of their annual salary.
“It should be emphasized,” said Mr. Robertson, in his statement to the company personnel, “that declaration of this profit bonus at this time is not in any way a commitment for the future or part of a regular continuing plan but is based entirely upon the results accomplished in the third quarter of 1947.” However, ii is not a gift from the management or stockholders, he declared, but is extra money that has been truly earned by the men and women of Oneida through their hard work and grand cooperation.
