In March, 1960, R. Schell Hulbert, who retired from Oneida, Ltd., in January 1960, was made an honorary member of the Chicago Jewelers’ Association, of which he is a former president.

Oneida Ltd. of Canada has adopted Union Carbide’s new tarnish-proof silicone finish for its hollowware.
Silver treated with the finish at the Oneida factory needs no polishing, and is said to be immune to repeated washings. The treated silver finish will cost slightly more than the non-treated.

The industry lost another of its real old-timers with the passing of William H. Rankin, 75, on September 27. Mr. Rankin has been associated with Oneida Ltd. for 52 years and was highly respected by all in the trade.

G. Wayland Smith, general sales manager of Oneida Community, Ltd., spent several days here last week visiting the Chicago office and calling on friends here.
Oneida Silversmiths’ “Niagara Club,” composed of silversmiths who moved with the company from Niagara Falls to Sherill, N. Y., in 1913, recently held an anniversary celebration. Nineteen members attended.

The appointment of R. W. Landon as territorial representative for the states of Oklahoma and Texas has been announced by Oneida Community Ltd. This position was formerly held by Charles H. Noyes, who has been called into selective service training. Harry Farmer will take over the duties of Mr. Landon in the Chicago area.

Charles W. Trout, assistant sales manager of the Community Plate division of Oneida, Ltd., visited the Chicago office and friends there, last month, en route to the Pacific Coast to call on the trade in that territory.
