Post by vervene »

Hi !

I have this mark, a head woman (?) with number 2 under the chin for second title.

Anyone know the mark, the origin ?

Hi Vervene welcome to the forum.

Not 100% sure but check out Yugoslavia which used the core image of a peasant woman within a notched frame during 1933-1995. The number II, left side, indicates silver 900 fineness at the right side should be the regional assay office number 1 = Belgrade, 2=Zagreb, 3=Ljubljana and 4 = Sarajevo.
It also could be for Serbia; 2006 to date. The number II indicates .925 fineness. The regional assay office number at the right side; 1=Belgrade
However it also could be for Bosnia Herzegovina used 1994-2010. The number II again for 925 fineness and at the right side the regional assay office number; 4=Sarajevo, 10 = Banja Luka and 16 = Tuzla.
Again not 100% sure and let us wait for other reactions.

Best,

Oel

Yes Yugoslavia since 1933 but the purity is .800. The notches left, right and bottom and the Roman figure III tell that. The RAO figure is unfortunately too unclear.
