Antique Norwegian Spoon unidentified hallmarking

Post by jimbo007 »

Hi all,
I have this beautiful spoon that I believe is Norwegian and possibly from Bergen. I think the 'cancer' sign indicates a July/August month but I am unclear as to who the maker (B/w) is and the date or what the 18 and IIG represent. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you
James

Hi
Your spoon is made in Bergen in 1818 by Jan Jansen Greve d.y. 1795-1846. The guardein is Peter Michael Blytt working 1812-1821.
