This is a composite image of two marks found on a stock buckle with the London Lion of 1740 -1756. The joys of digital photography allow two incomplete marks to be put together in minutes rather than hours as in film/print work.

No mark in Grimwade suitable, so presumed in the lost register of 1740-1756. A good possibility is Robert Elliot , a known buckle maker of the 1720's and 30 's. He was apprenticed in 1708 so was probably born around 1690-95, making him in his fifties and sixties in the period of the lost smallworkers register, probably 61 in 1756.
