Danish Sterling ?maker's Mark? Strawberry Fork

Post by dogologist »

Would appreciate a reference on the maker's mark .. Looks like a "c" a large "S" and a "d" with the c and d in the swirls of the S.

Hi Dogologist,

Can't help with the mark but this is known as as "sild fork" - my mother's family is Dansih and we often use them still for picking up herrings and other small pieces of marinated fish. Have just taken collection of a portion of family silver left to me by an Aunt and there are two or three such forks clearly marked "sild" in her list.

Regards
