Silver Brooch unknown hallmark

Post by DamWar »

Hi,

Can anyone identify the following Hallmarks on an old family Brooch approx. 3 inch long, with a number of small dark stones embedded in it.
It looks like "800 - H - DLP."

Many thanks.

Hi,

I suspect the 'DLP' is actually 'DEP', an abbreviation for a registered pattern or design.

The maker appears to be Gustav Hauber of Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Thanks for the quick reply Trev, much appreciated.

It was given to my Grandmother back in 1960 by a friend and she was told it was old but did not know it's history. It's with my elderly mother now so she will be delighted to know a bit of history about it.
