The crowned "R" stands for Rio de Janeiro, although it is not any sort of official mark. The maker "FJC" is Francisco José da Cruz, working in Rio 1854-1859. (By the way, the fineness of most Brazilian silver of this period was 10 dinheiros: 10/12 or .833)

This is Brazilian, made by Francisco Pereira da Fonseca of Rio de Janeiro, working at least 1864 to 1887. The "10" is the fineness of 10 dinheiros, 10/12 or .833.

I am looking for the maker of a silver chalice that was made as a presentation for an evangelical missionary pastor on the event of his marriage in 1868 in a village outside what is now Florianapolis, Santa Catarina, Brasil. The chalice is 9.75" tall with a top diameter of 3.375". It is stamped under the base with a mark of a crown above an encircled letter P.
Can anyone tell me about makers in that area of Brasil during that period? Can you point me to resources inside Brasil?
Thank you for your feedback.
