Re: Maker information
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Yes, please post pictures - no permission required. Pictures are essential for us to be able to give you an informed answer. You will have to upload your pictures to an online image hosting site. The following should help you:
https://postimages.org is recommended as an image host (after uploading your picture/s click 'Share', then copy and paste the 'Hotlink for forums' code to embed your images). Do not use Photobucket or Dropbox.
Please ensure that you embed your images rather than posting links and remember to use the 'Preview' button before submitting your post. If your images don't show up there we won't be able to see them either.

Re: Maker information
sorry phil I dont know what a hotlink is, an image host, embed my images, or pretty much any of the terminology you used.
I checked faq's and it says I cant post pics without moderators permission. If I click on insert image, this comes up.![Image]()
No idea what that means but it wont take me to my photos.

Re: Maker information
You only need permission to use this forum's own storage. So upload your pictures to an online picture host:
1 Open the postimages site using the link in my previous post
2 Click the "Choose Images" option and select the pictures from your own computer's file system which you want to upload.
3 When you have uploaded your pictures you will have the option to choose from several methods of sharing your pictures.
4 Select the one which says "Hotlink for forums" (you don't need to know what it means) by clicking the symbol on the right which will copy the code to your clipboard.
5 Reply to this post and paste (Control-C) the code into the reply.
6 Add text if you want to and "Submit"

Re: Maker information
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
There appears to very known about this manufacturer. The Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers has their location as unknown and shows their mark, which appears to be the same as yours, as c.1870.
Hopefully another member may know more.
Trev.

Re: Maker information
Thank you Phil for helping with photos, and Trev for responding.
Looks like I have an unusual case here. I have spent many hours researching silverware and am learning a lot. Must have been profitable as there was no shortage of competitors and manufacturers back in the day.
Can anyone comment on the pattern aspect of this piece? I have seen it listed on 5 different makers and designed and patented by M Gibney july 10 1846.
Did makers sell, lease or steal patterns from one another? All very interesting stuff.
I hope to find the rest of the set while prospecting this old home site and obtain more information about the history of this property.
