"GL" or "CL" With Inverted Anchor Gilt Spoon

Post by Pepperonicini »

Not sure if this is a German spoon or not but the only similar marks I could find are old German marks with inverted anchors.

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

::::: Have you been able to determine if this is silver plate? ::::: The dull purple colors are very often indicative of silver-plate. :::::

::::::::::::::::::::: Clearly there is a French influence and I have been thinking about Switzerland :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Herllo, rather think - in view of the yellowish colour - of unplated German Silver (Alfenide, Metal Blanc) than electroplated. This pattern was produced in several countriea, a French influence (i.e. Christofle) is certainly a possibility. Have been unable to identify the mark, believe this to be a retailer*s mark rather than a maker's mark - just a gut feeling, though. Regards Bahner
