Artistic Novelties Ltd. - London - 1912

The Artistic Rolled Gold Co. were thought to have been established by Carl Hirth, an importer of jewellery from Germany. The business became a subsidiary of Murrle, Bennett & Co., it's directors recorded as Ernest Mürrle, John Baker Bennett and Imanuel Saacke. Following the retirement of Bennett in 1907, the business was later converted into a limited liability company styled Artistic Novelties Ltd. with Mürrle as chairman, Saacke a director, and Carl Hirth as managing director. The company relocated to 13, Charterhouse Street, the address of Murrle, Bennett & Co., in 1915.

Artistic Novelties Ltd. were noted as exhibitors at the Jewellers' Exhibitions of 1912, 1913, and 1914.

TRADING WITH THE ENEMY ACT AMENDMENT, 1916.

Among other firms, the Board of Trade has ordered Murrle Bennett Export, Ltd., 13, Charterhouse Street, London. E.C., dealers in jewellery for export, to be wound up.

In May 1916 the business of Murrle, Bennett & Co. was acquired by three of their long-term employees, James H. White, William Raynsford Redgrove, and Cuthbert G. Whyte.

In the Matter of a Bankruptcy Notice dated the 4 day of October 1898.


To Walter Cross and Co. of 8 High-street Bloomsbury, 8 Holywell-street Strand and 29 St. Martin's-lane, Charing Cross all in the county of London Jewellers.

Take notice, that a Bankruptcy Notice has been issued against you in this Court at the instance of Murrle Bennett and Co. of 13 Charterhouse-street in the county of London Jewellers and the Court has ordered that the publication of this Notice in the London Gazette and in the Daily Telegraph newspaper shall be deemed to be service of the Bankruptcy Notice upon you. The Bankruptcy Notice can be inspected by you on application at this Court.—Dated 13 day of October 1898.

Notice is hereby given, that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned, Ernest Murrle, John Baker Bennett, and Imanuel Saacke, carrying on business as Wholesale Jewellers, at 7, Ely-place, in the county of London, under the style or firm of the ARTISTIC ROLLED GOLD COMPANY, has been dissolved by mutual consent as and from the thirty-first day of March, 1907, as regards the said John Baker Bennett. All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said Ernest Murrle and Imanuel Saacke.—Dated this eighth day of April, 1907.
