Bird Mark and WV2 mark Part II

Regarding the Meridan bowl I posted a few days ago. My wife tells me it came with the lid shown below. It fits perfectly but the lid is Silver Plate and the bowl is sterling. Both have a W in their marks if that means anything. Were items ever originally sold like this or it this just a lucky match?

It is not at all uncommon that the bowl is made of solid silver and the openwork lid of metal, most often gilded.
