Willson mark identification

Post by Cheverly »

My first post!

Hello, I’m looking for help identifying the mark on these three spoons. I am assuming they are American and coin silver, but not certain. Has anyone seen them before?

Thank you!

Probably best to post full images of the spoons both front and back to establish the construction. There’s another one listed at the big selling site with same marks. The only Willson that seems to come up is Charles (Chas,) G. Willson of Reading Penn., a renowned manufacturing jeweler and silversmith. Some of his marks are established but don’t match here. (This could be a maker, wholesaler, or retailer mark and we have no way to establish the metal content yet. So, the time frame is still up in the air at this point.) It’s still possible that this is unmarked Sterling or Coin being later marked for retail, but other metals might also be considered…white metal, pewter, plated brass, etc.. Perhaps WEV might know something about this one.
