Unknown marks of fork

Post by JanGroen »

Good day
I found this 19cm fork on the market today. I think it may be solid as I can't find and areas where plating ran off. Any help will be welcome

Hi Jannie,

To me, the marks look like Soviet ones.

Let's see what others think.

Yes. This is the USSR.
No, it's not silver.
The mark is ЗиШ or ЗiШ. The manufacturer is Volnyansky Shevchenko Cutlery Factory.
The trademark «ЗiШ» («ЗиШ» - Shevchenko plant) was registered on 13 August 961 for the marking of cutlery.
The assortment consists of nickel-plated, silver-plated and gold-plated cutlery, cup holders, trays and other products made of melchior, Neusilber and brass.
A small mark "c c" - Средняя Столовая, is an average cutlery (size).
