The Paye & Baker Mfg. Co. presented a check for $150 to its eastern representative, Frank P. Kennedy, last Monday, on the occasion of his marriage.

NORTH ATTLEBORO

F D Bigelow, Plainville, a retired shoe manufacturer, died suddenly last week at the home of his son-in-law, Charles T Paye, where he was visiting. Heart failure was the cause of death.

The factory of the Paye & Baker Mfg. Co. was closed last Thursday afternoon owing to the funeral of the father of Frank Baker, who is a member of the concern.

Harold E. Nock, formerly with the Paye & Baker Mfg. Co., of this city, has entered the employ of the Towle Mfg. Co., Newburyport, Mass., as manufacturing superintendent.

The Paye & Baker Mfg. Co., North Attleboro, in order to provide the increased space and facilities demanded by their growing business, will make an addition to their present building. A new structure will be erected on the west side of the company’s shop, having a frontage of 50 feet on Richards Avenue and extending backwards for a length of 30 feet. It will be a wooden building, two stories high and affording an aggregate floor area of 3400 square feet.

St Elmo Coombs returned last week from an extended southern and western trip for Paye & Baker Mfg. Co. While on the trip he was taken ill with influenza. Upon his arrival home he had almost entirely recovered.

Paye & Baker Mfg. Co., of North Attleboro, have planned to make another addition to their factory. Work on the new extension will be begun as soon as the weather permits.

A fashionable local event took place recently when Charles Thomas Paye, of Simmons & Paye Mfg. Co., Providence, was united in marriage to Miss Lillian Gertrude Bigelow.

Charles T. Paye, of the Paye & Baker Mfg. Co., was in charge of the drive last week to obtain clothing for the Belgian sufferers, which was sent through the North Attleboro Chapter of the Red Cross.

Charles T. Paye, of the Paye & Baker Mfg. Co., published an interesting communication in a local paper last Friday relative to the metal tariff bill, which was then pending in the Senate, but has been vetoed by President Taft. Mr. Paye has given considerable study to the jewelry tariff schedules, and his letter pointing out the danger from this particular bill was of interest to all identified with the jewelry trade.

Charles T. Paye has been selected to officiate as toastmaster at the anniversary banquet of the North Attleboro Republican Club. Senator Henry Cabot Lodge who assisted the jewelers in their fight for a protective tariff will be one of the speakers.
