Coffee spoon - maybe Marguerite Hastier

Post by syarn01 »

This one is new to me...a 5.5" long coffee spoon. Fairly plain with some nice etching of leaves on the handle. It had an old label describing it as Marguerite Hastier, NY NY, 1771. I've researched the marks online and couldn't make any conclusions on this one. Can anyone share some knowledge on it? The marks appear to be 72, MH and 13 1/3. Was the 13 1/3 mark really used in the US back then? thanks

I believe it could be Danish, 13 1/3 Lot for silver minimum around 833/1000 fineness.
For the Lot system for silver see:

Would suggest Norwegian rather than Danish...

Fantastic, thank you both. I think this might be the first Norwegian thing in my house. I'll see where that takes me in my research.
