Canadian or American?

Post by dartsil »

Hi all,

Can anyone assist with this medal/jewel? Marked Sterling Silver and WH as the makers mark.

Is it Canadian or American? If so does anyone then know what organisation or club etc it may be connected to?

Measures 55mm across and weighs 36g

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Colin

Hi,
It must be Canadian and Victorian because of Queen`s crown. The form of the crown is always obeyed in e.g. regimental badges, and after Queen Victoria every monarch was a male up to 1953; I think the brooch is older than that, so, it can be dated to Queen Victoria and Canada; otherwise it would have been fully marked with British hallmarks.
