Post by PW333abc »

Hello!

I would be grateful for help. Is this a silver stamp? What year is it made and what country?

Best regards

Hi,
Yes,it is solid silver of 13 Loth fineness (.812,5) and the maker is Neresheimer & Sohne,Hanau,Germany.
See here:
https://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_hanau_marks_01.html
The image of the whole item is always helpful;Hanau silversmiths made reproduction silver reminiscent of previous periods (e.g.Renaissance).

Right,it could be easily described as early 17th century beaker, but it was made in late 19th century.

Hello AG2012!

You wrote:

Does this mean that the item may not be in silver?

Do not worry;it IS silver.
As I said the fineness is expressed in old German unit Loth (number 13) equaling .812,5.
For example, sterling is .925 meaning 13 Loth or .812,5 has a bit less silver in the alloy, but still SOLID silver.
