Mediterranean Bowl?

Post by paulh »

Can any one help me with the marks on this Mediterranean looking bowl? I have searched in vain.

Paul.

Thanks Trev. I can't decide whether that is a horse bit or a pair of spectacles. The quest continues!

Hi Paul,

Frisian brandy bowl with pseudo/fake or fantasy marks, probably made late 19th-early 20th century.

These are Dutch pseudo marks; script IIS pseudo maker's mark of Amsterdam masterJohan Hendrik Schiotling, the so called glasses another pseudo maker's mark, the D pseudo year letter.

Reference (57),(445), (411), (224): Valse Zilvermerken in Nederland K.A. Citroen ISBN 90-352-1058-1
Below another variation of those pseudo/imitation marks;
