I am stuck on what I believe to be a medal fob that I found whilst cleaning at my elderly parent's home. They have no idea what it is, nor whence it came from.
Based on the hallmarks, my best guess is Albert Sydenham and 1890 at the (now closed) Chester Assay Office.
Assuming all that to be true, and this isn't simply a rubbish trinket, I am having quite a time trying to locate anything about Albert Sydenham and his works? And this particular item - with all my searching, I can't find anything like it. I'm in Australia, so we don't have a good collection of castles, so am having trouble understanding whether the castle on the face is meant to be representative of a particular castle, or style?
Any confirmation / help / discussion would be much appreciated, thank you!
Apologies for the photo quality - the colour truly is a dirty silver colour. Flash in the first one didn't help.
