Mark on Sterling & 14K owl ring

Hi Everyone, first I hope this finds everyone in good health in this crazy time!
Picked up a sterling & 14K owl ring, maker mark W.G. No luck finding who maker might be. Anyone familiar? Thanks:) Nancy

"W.G." may simply be a reference to White Gold as part to a standards mark without a maker shown. Where did "Sterling" come into play here...just an assumption?
