Hello, I got this unusual pin at an estate auction. I have researched the marks and know it's sterling, Edingurgh, Scotland.......but I'm confused on the ( ornate scrolly "R") date mark. Is it from 1826? or from the 1750's? The Top center mark I'm assuming is the marker's mark, and I have found nothing on the initials "TB". There is also some marks below the stamps of B14406, c-/cx/x...these marks are a mystery to me. It has a very old pin mechinism, is 2-1/2" across, and the glass or citrine gem measures a whopping 1" across. It is all in fabulous shape & working order. Can you fill me in on it, or provide me some links in the correct direction to research further? I'd love to know some history on it.
Thank you so much, as I have enjoyed & will continue to enjoy this wonderful and knowledgable people site!
Thanks much, Lu :)
