The "National Park" (Yellowstone) Spoon Pair by Gorham - Large 5 3/4" & small 4" of same complex design with "Great Falls of the Yellowstone" at tip end, "National Park" centered, and "Old Faithful" geyser blowing in bowl. Lion-Anchor-G before Sterling. A matched pair engraved with conjoined SSP (?) over 1902 date--possibly marital/family-name-S due to size difference at center letter. Rainwater/Felger Item 684 (American Spoons 1968) has line reference to same or similar produced c.1892- by Gorham exclusively for Meyers & Co. under design Patent 21,894--11/11/1892:

Gorham Polar Expedition Spoon.

This spoon has the heaviest detail of any souvenir spoon I have ever seen, both in person and in pictures. It had 100 years of tarnish when I found it.

There is a Pattern Number listed on the spoon of 911, but that must be more of an internal factory code, because I can't imagine this spoon was extrapolated into an entire pattern.

ARCOLA SASKATCHEWAN by Caron Freres (Brothers) Montreal

A typical small townsite spoon along a major rail line (Canadian Pacific) made more interesting by the fact that a movie was later made here about the hardships of life on the plains as experienced during the not-so-sterling years of the Great Depression..an event which co-incides with the closing of business by Caron Freres.
