Re: Makers mark?
Hi Atlas -
your napkin ring is from Vilnus. Assay master (AA) is Artsibatschev Anatolij 1896-1908.
The maker´s mark is unknown to me - maybe Pinknosowitsch Leizer?
Regards
Goldstein

Hi,
Why you write "Vilnius"? This is Wilno! There was no such city of "Vilnius". Just as in the 19th century there was no city of "Leningrad"))
Re: Makers mark?
A Russian name from the time of the Russian Empire was Вильна/Вильно (Vilna/Vilno)
As we all know, other names were also used due to turbulent history.
It`s Vilnius in Lithuanian now and I hope it will remain like this for the centuries to come.
It seems reasonable to use Russian names (silver made during that period is discussed).
Compare with silver made in hundreds of towns in ehemalige deutsche Gebiete or former German territories (Königsberg, not Kaliningrad, Danzig, not Gdańsk etc).

Re: Makers mark?
Thank you all for your help.
So now we have the assay master - Artsibatschev, Anatolij Apollonovitch, the city (at thetime ) - Moscow , at the time - 1899-1908.
Makers mark - П.П.Г. above О.Р. ( P.P.G. above O.P. ) - still a mystery waiting to be solved ?

Re: Makers mark?
The town is not Moscow but Vilnius. Kindly note that Artsibatschev was in Vilnius as from 1898, not in Moscow.
About the name, compare with Roma, Rom, Rome....Copenhagen, Köpenhamn....etc. depending on the era/history and/or language used.
