Mappin & Webb silverplate ot solid silver?

Hello forum!

The owner of this forks tells me that is it solid silver with 999% purity.
I tel him that is just silverplate, but he does not believe me...

So, what is your opinion about this set?

Hi RedMask,

You are of course correct, they are silver-plated. Had they have been silver, they would bear official English hallmarks.

999% purity forks have never been made. Pure silver is very soft and therefore alloyed with harder metals.
