Woolley & Co., Woolley & Co (Birmingham) Ltd
Hello, I have been trying to sort, for my own mind, the silver plate marks of Thomas Woolley, the Birmingham electroplate ware manufacturer, but this "Woolley & Co", also from Birmingham, crossed my path in a Birmingham, 1896-97 directory .
Woolley & Co had in fact 2 listings.
Peck's Trades Directory of Birmingham, 1896-97
.....................Woolley & Co. Military Ornaments, Legge Lane Works
.....................Woolley & Co, Button (Metal, Trouser, Boot etc) Manufacturer Legge Lane Works
There were further listing in 1914, at Birmingham, and also one in a London directory
Bennett's Business Directory for Warwickshire, 1914
........... ...Woolley & Co, Military and Naval Ornament Manfrs, Legge Lane works, Graham St*
London Post Office Directory 1914 ( Identical entry for 1915)
............Woolley & Co. (Birmingham) Ltd. Military & Naval Ornament Makers Military works, Milk street, Birmingham
The 1914 Birmingham addresses for the 2 Woolley & Co are different though?
Below is a London Gazette, 1st March 1907, entry pertaining to Woolley & Co.
.......Notices of Intended Dividends
............Military Ornament Manufacturer
Percy Isaac Bloomfield, (carrying on business under the style or firm of Woolley and Co.) Residing at 43, Norman-road, Northfield, in the county of Worcester, lately residing at 14, Manor-road, Edgbaston, in the city of Birmingham, and carrying on business at
Legge-lane Works, Legge-lane*, Birmingham
.......................(* Graham St was a continuation of Legge Lane on a 1887 O.S. Birmingham map and still is)
Below is an extract from a document relating to the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, and Legge Lane.
"At Number 6 Albert Rupert Middleton, an electro plate manufacturer, shared premises with John Taylor, a jeweller, and Woolley & Co, military ornament manufacturers."
Sorry, now I only have a image of a base metal items to show. A brass 1915 "On War Service" badge and a button back, for export to the Empire.

I am sorry to notice the failure of Messrs. Gilpin and Co., of Vyse-street.
