William Barker, representing the R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co., returned last week from St. Louis where he spent a week calling on his trade. After passing a few days in Chicago Mr. Barker left on his north-western trip and will be away for about two weeks.

Dave Mylasky, representative for R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co., accompanied by Ivan Ogilvie, of the same concern, left this week for Detroit, where they will spend a week calling on the trade, Mr. Mylasky will then return home while Mr. Ogilvie continues calling on the trade in the surrounding territory.

W. L. Glenn, president of the W. B. Glidden Co., left on June 22 to attend the annual meeting of the Wallace concern, which was to be held July 1, 2 and 3.
Members of the force of the W. B. Glidden Co., gave a party at the Berkeley Country Club in honor of Thomas McCready, Philadelphia manager for the R. Wallace & Sons’ Mfg. Co., who has been here on a pleasure trip. Mr. McCready was with the Glidden Co. here until he was promoted to Philadelphia.
Evan J. Parker, nationally-known industrialist and for many years general manager of the General Motors Fisher Body plant, has been named to the board of directors of Wallace Silversmiths, Inc., Wallingford, Conn. Parker currently is president of American Hardware Co., New Britain, Conn.., oldest and largest producers of "builders’ hardware." Wallace recently began an industrial diversification program, has bought American Windshield & Specialty Co., Tuttle Silver Co. and General Plastics, Ltd.

Wallingford, Conn. — The Wallace Silversmiths announce the appointment of Don Dorsey as field manager of their plated flatware division. Mr. Dorsey has been associated with R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. since 1937, having previously held a similar position with International’s Holmes & Edwards division.
He is well known to the plated flatware buyers of the country on a coast to coast network and his many friends will be glad to learn of this new appointment.

A portfolio measuring 12 by 15 inches, outlining seven sales promotion plans for Fall presentation was issued last month by the R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. The campaign will cover Wallace sterling silver shod flatware, Luxor plate and Wallace Plate A1+ grade. The greatest emphasis will be put on the silver shod patterns, the Wallace concern announcing that Ladies Home Journal, Woman's Home Companion and House Beautiful will be used in the campaign in October, November and December. In addition, this line will receive radio backing on the “Jean Abbey” daytime’ broadcasts sponsored by Woman’s Home Companion over 16 stations. Wallace is also offering to dealers for direct mail purposes, pattern folders and leaflets emphasizing the various combinations of services and chests available. Newspaper mats and display cards have also been prepared, and in addition the concern is presenting what has been termed a “Sales-A-Gram” service, a series of carefully planned and tried sales approaches.

George S. Taylor, for many years the Philadelphia manager for R. Wallace and Sons Mfg. Co., at 12 S. 12th St,, is at present the New York representative for the Watson Co., with offices at 347 Fifth Ave., New York.
