A Most Unusual Spoon

Post by dognose »

Hi,
Does anyone recognise the unusual marks on this spoon?
The spoon itself is well made, with good proportions, is just under 6" in length and is in the Old English pattern.
The marks are LH, a right facing Lion Passant and a rather large O.
It could well be Colonial and I would date it around 1780-1800.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards Trev.

Hi Trev,
I suspect it is Chinese Export, but can't verify it.
Does anyone out there have a copy of "The Chait collection of Chinese export silver" by John Devereux Kernan?

Regards, Tom
