Hi all - any help with info on where this box comes from (and who the maker is) much appreciated! Pull-off lid (no hinge) but feels well-made. Feels British style .... maybe Canada/Australia/New Zealand?? Artist silversmith?
Incuse 'RI', incuse '925' and crescent?
Cheers,
L
Where does this box with stone inset come from?
Re: Where does this box with stone inset come from?
Now solved! Indeed turned out to be Australian.
RI = Richard Ivey (active 1945 - 2000's ; Adelaide)
Used symbol of crescent moon as this is the alchemical symbol for silver.
The above from an excellent book: Marks on Australian silver : 1950-2005 by Christine Erratt
