That might be the mark of Eduard Friedmann, Vienna, Austria. Founded in 1877. Closed in 1920.

Pat.

Hi,
Neuwirth shows the same mark for Eduard Fleischmann, commencing in 1868. I imagine he was out of business by 1877 when Friedmann began using the mark, but it still leaves him as a possibility to have made it in the early 1870's.

1870`s would fit quite well to the style of the other items I have from this Silversmith, but 10 Years less or not,who knows. So both could be the Maker???

Hello, this is Friedmann’s mark. According to the latest research he was active in Vienna 1881 - 1919. Fleischmann’s mark is a little different, the font used in his mark is Antiqua, not Grotesque as in Friedmann’s. Best wishes, Bahner

oops... Bahner, thanks for catching that, no one has an eye for fonts like a bookman.
