Unknown imported Caddy Spoon

Post by ApostleBloke »

I have a small caddy spoon that has 5 marks on the inside of the bowl, I believe depicting the following:
1) TG for Thomas Glaser (who imported items including caddy spoons)
2) Lion Passant for Sterling Silver
3) R in a Shield – date letter for 1892
4) F – Import Mark
5) Leopard Head – for London

However I cannot identify the marks on the reverse of the stem:
1) Looks like a bird’s head?
2) I’m unsure of the pattern

Can anyone please identify these marks to give an indication of the country/region of origin?

Hi,
Most likely Hanau, e.g. Neresheimer (s520). Not a perfect match, though, but most of the time one mark is enough to identify Hanau (they used every possible combination of marks). Bird mark remains a mystery.
See here:

The pattern is historicism, combination of previous styles, possibly after a genre painting; popular at the turn of 19th century.
Regards
