17th/18th Century Covered Goblet

Post by legrandmogol »

I was super excited to get this cup. It was listed as 19th century but I doubt that. The seller was just a random online seller who didn't specialize in silver. I can only guess where it comes from though. It is made of 6 parts and has NO marks or mark remnants. With the exception of the center rod and dangling pieces, the entire piece is hand-made with no castings. It has several cracks and old repairs. The cup has several flowers engraved on it and 1 log cabin. The entire piece is fairly primitive in construction.
I can't find any example of a piece exactly like it or particularly similar. My guess is that it is Scandanavian / Baltic in origin or possibly German. I am open to any thoughts.
