Have an inherited brooch on which I read PATENT and on the little loop in very tiny letters LP , A and 2 head? A. The photos are the best I could do. What I call head can be all other thing. For me identfication is not possible. Does anybody has an idea to what country these marks belong?

Brooch with red glas or rubis
Re: Brooch with red glas or rubis
Hi,
I think there is small capital A for Vienna assay office (often seen as a secondary mark). Try to identify the first mark; I think it`s Austria Hungary empire for small items.

Dear Silverfan!
Can you make a better picture about the hallmark? As I see, It doesn't fit. I see at the right a nr 3, but I can't see, what is in the other side.
Best regards!

@AG2012
Thanks. Do you think the head? is the dog head for small pieces?
@huszas
Better photos are not possible.
To the left there is without any doubt a 2 and to the right there is an A. If this is the dog's mark of Austro-Hungary 1872-1922 for small pieces, it is silver 900 and assay office Vienna. Who is the maker LP?

Re: Brooch with red glas or rubis
Dear Silverfan!
The greyhound head in the Austro-Hungarian hallmarks is only for 800 fineness.
There was no hallmark for small articles in fineness nr2 (900).
So if it is silver, it must be a Diana head:
(at first sight I did not see the two in the sign)
There was 10 different maker in Wien with LP monogram, but I think, it is maybe Ludwig Politzer.
Best regards!

Re: Brooch with red glas or rubis
Dear Krisztian,
many thanks for your complete information. Politzer was an outstanding Vienna silversmith. If it is him, it is even possible that there are rubis, but I do not think so because the brooch is not gold. I shall verify this.
