NeedHelp Identifying Spoon Hallmarks

Postby SterlingRookie » Sun May 14, 2017 6:40 pm

Hello, I have 2 spoons with the same markings. They both tested for silver, but it doesn't state whether its coin, 800, or sterling silver. Im hoping you gents can help me out figure out what I got here (admin edit). Total weight is about 60 grams and there are only 2 markings per spoon (same on each).

One marking is an AP in an oval and the other marking is a sovereign bust/head female facing right inside of what looks like a 5 pedal flower type shape. Any help is appreciated!

Hi,
I have cropped and embedded your images.
As already said, the spoons are made in Austria- Hungary (Diana`s head for .800 standard).
The letter for assay office in front of Diana`s head cannot be seen. You should clean it with a toothpick and tell us what you see or compare with assay office letters in the link given above.Between 1868-1872 the letter was stamped beside Diana mark, not within it, but there is silver without that assay office letter during a four year period (in case there is no letter in front of Diana`s head mark).
Regards
