Long Shot Ladle Maker ID

Postby dognose » Mon Jun 27, 2016 1:12 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to ID the maker of this ladle for a friend. The item has no official hallmarks and is struck with only maker's mark, three times:

I'm posting initially in the French section only on the strength of the handle shape and the style of the mark. The mark, as can be seen, is either struck with a damaged or fouled punch. The punch is crude and does not look like it was made by a punch-maker. It appears to be 'GA', 'GT' or 'GI' maybe, below a five-pointed star.

I appreciate this is a long shot.

Ladle is 15½ inches (39.5cm) in length and weighs 267 grammes

Any thoughts appreciated.

Trev.

Just moving this topic to the 'Other Countries' section, to see if anyone recognises the mark there.

Hi Trev,

I believe this is another example of marking similar to a post I made recently viewtopic.php?f=7&t=44072

Although I can find no definitive proof, I am leaning towards Frech Colonial but I may be completely wrong

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your thoughts. I feel you may well be correct.
